Objective Look
Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions.

Everything worth knowing before you start — what an audit is, what it costs, how we work, and why being independent is the whole point. Still stuck? Just ask us.

The basics
What exactly is Objective Look? +

An independent digital marketing audit service. We examine your marketing — SEO, ads, content, reputation, conversion — and tell you, in plain language, what's working, what's broken, and what to do next.

The difference is what we don't do: we sell no marketing services, run no campaigns, and take no referrals. The report is the product, not a pitch for something else.

What's a digital marketing audit, in plain terms? +

A structured, independent check-up of everything affecting your marketing performance — looked at as one connected system, not separate silos. You get a clear diagnosis and a prioritised list of what to fix first, why, and how.

Think of it as a second opinion on whether your money is working, from someone with no stake in the answer.

What does "independent" actually mean — and why does it matter? +

It means our only product is the audit. We don't profit from fixing what we find, from the channels we assess, or from referring you on. So we've no reason to inflate problems to win work, or to soften them to keep a client happy.

An agency auditing its own work — or pitching a "free audit" — can't say that. Their incentive is the next contract. Ours is just to be right.

Do you fix the problems you find? +

No — and that's the best part. We're an X-ray for your marketing. If your arm hurts, the X-ray shows the fracture; it doesn't set the bone. And you don't want a radiologist who profits from the diagnosis.

You walk away with the findings and a roadmap. Whether your current team, a new one, or you handle the fixes is entirely up to you.

The method
What's the SHG system? +

Our framework, built to be useful rather than to sound fancy. It sorts every finding into three buckets: Sins (major, unforgivable issues actively costing you), Hygiene (smaller things that compound and quietly damage you), and Growth (optional upside worth pursuing).

It means you always know what's urgent versus what's nice-to-have — no 200-line checklist where everything looks equally scary.

How thorough is it — how many things do you check? +

Up to 280+ checkpoints across SEO, paid media, content, reputation, and conversion, depending on the plan. But the number isn't the point — the point is the handful of findings that actually move the needle, surfaced to the top so you act on what matters.

Do you use AI to write the audit? +

No. We use tools — 30+ of them — to gather data, but the analysis and the verdict are human. AI-generated audits are exactly the kind of cheap, box-ticking output we exist to be the opposite of. You're paying for judgment, not a generated PDF.

Choosing & pricing
Which plan should I choose? +

Clarity ($500) — a fast, honest gut-check on whether you're broadly fine or there's real work to do.
Clarity + Growth ($1,500) — the complete picture: what's broken, what's working, and the growth moves worth making. Most people start here.
Strategy (on request) — a full audit plus a 12-month roadmap, for when you need direction, not just a diagnosis.
Single-Area (from $450) — one discipline, in depth, when you know exactly where the question is.

Why is the price what it is — and why the round numbers? +

Price tracks the hours we'll spend, the tools we'll use, and the depth of analysis — nothing else. No hidden fees, no add-ons.

And we round to $500, not $499.95, because we respect our clients and don't use the same tricks your local big-box store does.

Does the size of my site change the price? +

No. A 1,000-page site means more pages to review; a 10-page site means more time on benchmarking and what to build next. Either way, we look at your whole digital presence — listings, social, backlinks, reputation, campaigns — which a page count alone never captures.

What's a Single-Area Audit? +

A focused, in-depth audit of one discipline — SEO, PPC, Content, or Reputation — for when you're confident about the rest and want one area looked at hard. Our fuller plans cover all of them together, because they're interconnected.

What's Benchmarking, and how is it different from an audit? +

An audit looks at your marketing. Benchmarking looks at your agency — what they do, what you pay, and what their reports claim — and tells you whether you're overpaying, measured against the market.

Different question, same independence: we don't sell marketing, so we've no reason to defend or undercut anyone.

Do you do due diligence for acquisitions? +

Yes. Digital marketing due diligence is an independent read on a target's marketing before you buy — is the growth real and durable, what are the hidden risks, and what's it actually worth. Built for acquirers and advisors, and we slot in alongside financial, legal, and tech diligence.

The process
How does it work, step by step? +

Five steps: (1) you request and pay; (2) a short briefing call so we understand your situation; (3) our team works — from two days (Clarity) to a few weeks (Strategy); (4) we deliver the full audit, a one-minute summary, and a roadmap; (5) a debrief call where we walk you through it in plain language and answer everything.

How long does it take? +

Clarity takes about two days; Clarity + Growth around a week; Strategy a few weeks given the roadmap work. Single-area audits run about a week. We confirm exact timing on the briefing call.

What do you need from me to start? +

Surprisingly little. Your website and the goals or worries on your mind, ideally read-only access to your analytics and ad accounts, and a sense of your competitors. Can't share access? We do most of the work from public data — access just sharpens it.

What exactly do I get at the end? +

Three things: the full audit (up to 280+ OK / Not-OK points with plain-language explanations), a summary that gives you the answer in about a minute, and a roadmap of what to do next, prioritised. Plus a debrief call to talk it through.

Is my data safe? Will you sign an NDA? +

Yes on both. We only ever need read-only access, we treat everything you share as confidential, and we're happy to sign an NDA before you hand anything over. Just ask.

Afterwards
What happens after the audit — do you upsell me? +

No. Our model has no retainers, quick-fix packages, subscriptions, up-sells, referrals, or newsletters designed to lure you back. We're a do-it-once service. We deliver clarity, add one to the "successful audits" count, and that's it.

What if I disagree with your findings? +

Tell us — that's what the debrief call is for. Every finding comes with the evidence behind it, so we can walk through anything that surprises you. We'd rather you challenge a point and leave convinced than nod along and doubt it later.
